So this is what Santa was to me as a child.   I was lucky enough to spend most Christmas' as a child in Honolulu so Santa as I knew it came in on an outrigger wearing board shorts.   You went down to the beach and in he came.   It all made complete sense at the time.  Never questioned where Rudolph, Donner, and the others were.   Probably figured it was too hot so he left them home.   Just seeing this picture takes me right back to Waikiki.....I can hear the waves and smell the ocean.   I wonder if they still do this.   I hope so - sometimes I think we get too caught up in being "political correct".  I hung my Mele Kalikimaka lights at my desk and someone asked me if HR had come to talk to me about taking them down.   They were kidding but geez.....I'm sure that those (and my Christmas tree) have not offended anyone and instead we can all wrap around arms around the spirit of the season and not get caught up in the details.  I know I am.

The weekend plan is to break out the Santa's and scatter them around the house and put up the trees (yes - I do 2).  G put up the lights outside last weekend and normally I would be done decorating by now but this year I'm behind.   I promise to take pics and post them once everything is done.

I've downloaded the pics from our wonderful and relaxing trip to the Island now I just need to get some of them organized to post.  In the meantime......hello Friday!   I tell ya' the first week back from vacation always seems to be extremely long doesn't it?   Got a wonderful present from my boss this week as a thank you for some work I've done lately.  So nice to be appreciated.  I adore that man and feel blessed to work for him.   In other news......no big plans for the weekend.  I LOVE that.   Will watch the game tomorrow, catch up on the laundry and housework, and hopefully get out in the yard.

Aloha Friday

Ok so the official countdown is on.   Not that I 'm packed.  Not that the laundry is done.  Not that the house is clean.  But soon, very soon, I will be on a ferry w/ G and the furry one........

Not a very "aloha" picture I know but it is aloha in the since of goodbye, farewell, a hui ho and all that good stuff.

Hello sunny Friday!   It's nice to have the sun still around at the end of September.  We've been lucky that fall hasn't arrived in full force yet.   However I think today is the last day of Indian summer. No real plans for the weekend.  Bridgeport is having a private event called Food & Cork that G and I might head over to.  Yes there is a game but its in Arizona against our old coach.  It will be a great weekend to just relax and get some things done around the house in preparation for the trip!

Crazy week, crazy Friday.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  It's going to be 85 here tomorrow and then 67 and rainy on Sunday - how crazy it that?
Game day tomorrow - we play UCLA and we need to win, for Mike's sake.  Perhaps that will put a rest to the Mike bashing....for now.

Here's to Friday and welcoming the weekend!  The rain is back but I have to say I'm not that sad to see it.  Everything is so dry and brown.  A little rain this weekend will be nice to wash off the dust of the summer.   Check back in with me in November when its been raining for 8 weeks solid and I might feel differently but for now I'm ok with a sprinkle or two.

Hello Friday all full of sunshine!
Looking forward to a 3 day weekend and the official start of college football.  GO BEAVS!
Going to Corvallis tomorrow to sit in the 95 degree heat - we better win (I'm leaving the jellyfish home).   Not sure what the rest of the weekend holds.   Quality time w/ the furry one and G I'm sure and perhaps a bike ride.  Its going to be in the 90's all weekend and even into next week.   Summer apparently got lost finding its way to us and now that it's here would like to stay for a while.  I'm fine with that.  It will be hard to wear long pants and real shoes again.

Hello Friday!
I love this picture mostly because it includes 3 things I love:  ocean, wine, and adirondack chairs.  It looks so peaceful and serene.  Don't you just wish you were there?

Peaceful is something I am hoping for this weekend.  Life is a journey and on that journey I hope to treat those around me as I would hope to be treated.

I plan to bake this weekend - thinking some rum raisin choc chip cookies (thanks Jackie) and some zucchini bread.  And I must get some fresh flowers.  Its been too long since I've had some around the house - seems I will be hitting TJ's and maybe the farmers market.

Aloha Friday

via me! - taken in Lahaina outside the Crazy Shirt store - probably left by the whalers in the old days

The weather has been wonderful this week!  I'm sure some would prefer it to be warmer but I am must admit I am more down with this weather than all that 100+ heat the rest of the nation seems to be having.  Going to be playing a little catch up around the house this weekend but hope to make it to the Tualatin Crawfish Festival.  Oh!  I'm taking my cheese making class from Debbie tonight - fun time to be had for sure!  Car is in the shop today so I'm working from home - always confuses the furry one but hopefully she will settle down here soon.

Hello Friday I've been waiting for you all week!
This has been a bit of a challenging week where I am learning to have patience and breathe.   It started on Sunday when I was happily minding mine own business working out on my trendmill and my mom called.   There house had been broken into in broad daylight while they ran to the store for canning jars.   Seriously?  What in the ....... But really we are blessed as it could of been soooo much worse.   They took her iPad and some jewerly but didn't get her phone or wallet and the only damage to the house was the door so all in all we are counting our blessing on this one.   Its times like these that I'm glad I am close enough to be able to go down and really check out the situation for myself - so I am blessed in that way.  Each day along the week has brought some fun challenges (that's what I'll call them) but also was sprinkled with some sunshine.  My friend Joseph drove out to have lunch with me on Monday, the sun has been out all week which means I can take breaks from my desk and go walk in the sunshine, and I was able to meet my bosses wife and she was a delight - the kind of person you just want to take home with you and share a cup of tea and a good cookie.   This weekend I am going to have a massage and take a trip to IKEA to get some new frames for the wall I am working on for the family room.  I might even make some pillows for the couch.

How fun would a party here be!
The sun is out the furry one is on the mend and I have 3 yards of bark mulch being delivered tomorrow.
Should be a fun weekend.   Postponed the cheese making class until August so will probably head to the farmers market tonight since the weather seems to be perfect for it.

Had a great time last night meeting Kathleen and Jill's new husbands (took the camera but forgot to take pictures).  Have to say I have not laughed that hard in a long time!  Funny how with some friends you can not see them in forever but its like you just saw them yesterday.   Blessed to have people like that in my life.

Aloha Friday

Sunset at the Five Palms
TGIF!
I have to admit that I was very confused about what day it was all week so its good to see this week is over.
G was in Austin all week for a conference and we (me and the furry one) missed him dearly.  Although she is my dog its funny how out of sorts she gets when he isn't around.
In other news......I have today off!   Very excited about that.  Made yesterday so much easier.  G has a furlough day so I figured why not.  Would love to work a 4 day work week however would still like to get paid for a 5 day work week so I don't think that would work in my favor.
Also, the sun finally made an appearance for more than a day this week was able to go on 'walk breaks' at work in the am and pm which is wonderful and helps to keep my energy high.  Made it above 70 Wed and Thursday and today its supposed to 75.

Aloha Friday

Well see I did two - count them two - long post and posted them yesterday.  And today they are gone.
Worked on my Aloha Friday for today last night ready to post first thing this morning but apparently there is something going on w/ blogger.    All postings are on hold until they get this all cleared up.   Let's hope my Thursday post about Mom and the WL house come back.

Will probably work on an Uncle Shel for tomorrow later tonight however.
