About Me

My photo
I live in the Pacific NW with my husband, our 85 pound black lab and the newest member of our family our adorable little boy! I love to cook, stick my hands in the dirt and grow veggies and flowers, etc., craft for gift giving, repurpose things from my grandmother, find a cozy corner and curl up with a good book, and most of all hang out with my boys and our furry one.

Favorites

Work has been a bit of a challenge lately.   Something I am working through and trying not to get bogged down in.  I need to be thankful for the people in my work who appreciates me and not concentrate on those who do not.  Afterall I am not one who needs constant reassurance and I will continue to take pride in the work I do.   I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.   This job has been what I needed at the time it was presented to me and perhaps that time has passed and it is time for me to look for new challenges.   It is not something I will seek out but one never knows what will be presented to them if they only open there heart to possiblities.

Going back to work has made me realize many things one of which is that my favorite time of the day is when I go to pick J up at daycare.  He looks up at me and realizes its me and then gives me the biggest smile and will start to babble at me.   Man it makes your heart melt.......   Just to hold him in my arms - even though he can't hug me yet - makes the world melt away and makes everything fine again.  And we sing on the way home (well I sing and he babbles)  Last night it was U2 New Years Day.

I am grateful for him every second of every day and maybe even a little extra when the day has been hard.

In the bag

I worked in the markup industry for many moons and I loved every minute of it.  There are days that I really miss it.  I miss some of the people and the challenge of the job but I don't miss working nights and weekends and traveling.

Another thing I miss is the fun stuff you got to try - sometimes for free!   I've taken products that I used back then and still use today (haven't been in the industry for 8 years) and these have turned into my go to products.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer - Get some added moisture (which I always need) and a basic SPF

LM Eye Basics - this stuff is great and doesn't crease AND last all day

Stilla Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer - ok another tinted moisturizer you say?   But I don't use this everywhere - just on my cheeks to highlight a little

Bobbie Brown Bronzer - there is no other - believe me I've tried a lot of them.  This is the most natural one out there.

Paula Dorf Transformer - this is magical and turns eye shadow into waterproof eyeliner.   There is no substitute - water isnt' the same trust me.   And I'm getting nervous because its getting harder and harder to find.

PD Eye Color - I have this in Bark and its my eyeliner that I use with the transformer.  Lasts forever.

YSL Touche Eclat- this is worth every penny and more and I do my best never ever to be with out this.  I can't say enough about this product.   Did I say its worth every penny?

Now of course I have other stuff but this is the daily routine and to be honest on the weekends I don't usually line the eyes just a little mascara.

And where's the mascara you say?   Well finding a good mascara is like finding a good pair of jeans or swimsuit or man.   When you find one let me know......

What's for dinner

Doing a something a little different

I just have to go into the week with a plan.  Believe me when I say I believe that is the only thing - well maybe not the only thing - but a big part of how we survived my first week back and work and J's first week of daycare.   As long as I have a plan and do the majority of the prep work on Sunday the week goes much smoother.   Hopefully everything below will be enough for two dinners.  If not there is always take away.

Here are the recipes for this week.....not sure of the order

Oven Roasted Sausage and Potatoes

Green Chile Casserole

Chicken of some sort

To be honest using this a place holder to find the recipes later more than anything else.

Bon Appétit

What's for dinner

I go back to work on Monday- bleh.   Big fat hairy bleh.   So this week needs to be easy and borden line comfort.   Not sure how much time I will have in the evenings to cook.  And I want to watch the big game tomorrow so won't have as much prep time as I normally would.

Sunday
Super Bowl!   Not sure what we are having here.  Probably some form of football inspired food.  Hotdogs come to mind....

Monday
Lasagna Soup & Salad
Paula Deen's son Bobby recipe found here

Tuesday
Sesame Noodle with Chicken
Recipe found here

Wednesday
Lasagna Soup leftovers

Thursday
Taco Thursday :)

Friday
Take out or go out and celebrate making it through the first week!

And the Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic....that was by far the most excellent meal I've made in a while but more on that another time.....
Bon Appétit!
