About Me

My photo
I live in the Pacific NW with my husband, our 85 pound black lab and the newest member of our family our adorable little boy! I love to cook, stick my hands in the dirt and grow veggies and flowers, etc., craft for gift giving, repurpose things from my grandmother, find a cozy corner and curl up with a good book, and most of all hang out with my boys and our furry one.

Simple....

.....Summer Supper

So truth be told this was a rocky weekend.   Remember this?   Well that lovely little virus apparently was making its way through daycare unannounced and uninvited to all of us until about Thursday evening.    Skipper surprise birthday party would have to go on without us as well.   I was needed instead rocking a very weary and puny little one and doing lots of laundry.   And you know what?   There truly was no other place I would of rather been.   He is of the age where he doesn't really liked to be rocked so much anymore and if there is one thing a puny whiny pickle needs its his mama - nice to be needed......

Any who what does this have to do with supper you say?

Nothing......

Neither does this....
 Or this...

That is (or was) my husband's car until the idiot driving the truck decided to destroy it.   G's wasn't in the car it was parked on the side of the street minding its own waiting for G to come and get it.  Long story short we also had to go and look at cars this weekend.....
Big picture although this is a colossal pain in the okole nobody was hurt and it's a car it can be replaced.

But I tell you all this because when it came to have dinner Saturday night there was not much in the house.   We had not made it to the farmers market or Friday nor the grocery store.   So I rummaged around in the freezer and whipped up a simple summer supper......

  • Chicken Sausages from the freezer sliced and grilled on the stove (no BBQ'ing as there was a huge threat of a thunder storm - because the weekend wasn't exciting enough)
  • One lonely little yellow squash from my garden sauteed with some fresh herbs and topped of with some fresh tomatoes from my garden
  • This little life saver  which is a pantry staple in my book.   Who doesn't love barley that is ready in 10 - and trust me it is.  I also recommend the 10 minute bulgar
Tada!  Simple summer supper from the pantry.
